SANA with Saadani Safari Lodge put efforts to support Saadani Primary School at Saadani village. This effort is themed to enable proper provision for education to the students of Saadani School. The support that goes to this school is mainly of the educational materials such as books, stationeries and teaching aids. Also visitors who visit the Saadani Safari Lodge and the Saadani village have been giving a hand on this by carrying and sending different things (such as wall maps, stationeries, equipments for science subjects and sports items) which are all given to the school.
Saadani Safari Lodge has rebuilt the whole school to replace the old buildings with new ones which are more comfortable and secure enough for the students to study well. The construction completed in September 2010 and followed by the opening of the school in October 2010.
The support is themed to improve the education provided by the school and to enable students to communicate their knowledge through better performance in their examinations.
More support is needed from volunteers who can contribute their time and skills to strengthen the team of three teachers who have to teach more than 182 students of grade I to grade VII.
INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS SPONSORSHIP
SANA currently sponsors twenty three (23) students, of which twenty two (22) are in Secondary Schools of Matipwili, Kikaro and Chalinze while one student is still in primary school in Dar es Salaam. This number is a step from eleven students that we started with in 2008. All students are from Saadani, Matipwili, Gongo and Manda villages in Bagamoyo district.
These students are from families that have been stricken by poverty which is usually accompanied by family breakdowns. As a result most of these students are left under the narrow shades of single parents, grandparents or other family members who always have other responsibilities to bear. It would have been almost impossible to continue with the studies without getting assistance from outside their families.
In reality the number of students assisted is too small comparing to the number of requests for this help that we receive. We will be able to reach more students as we receive more support. This project is open for anyone to contribute to, all that need to be done is to inform us that the help is specifically for this project and it will be channelled to there.
