Sustainable Cities

The International Centre for Sustainable Cities is a non-for-profit agency headquarters in Canada. It carries out urban sustainability demonstration projects internationally, and acts as secretariat to the PLUS network of more than 30 cities and towns around the world who share their sustainability learning and best practices.

Their mission is to catalyze action on urban sustainability in cities around the world, through practical demonstration projects, peer learning, networks and high-profile events.

Urban sustainability is about the future of our homes and the quality of life in our communities, for our children and their grandchildren. And because we are all part of the web of life, it is about our global survival on our larger home- Planet Earth.
The International Centre for Sustainable Cities (ICSC) was founded in Canada in 1993 as a partnership between three levels of government, the private sector and civil society organisations. ICSC is governed by a board of directors from the private public and civil sectors. It has a small core staff based in Vancouver, and an international panel of advisors, partner organisations, and associates in other cities.
